RAIPUR: ‘We should pledge to make a Hindu Rashtra’; this statement blared from an event organized in Raipur. Don't mistake this for any bigoted statement coming from some saffron-clad politicians. This was the statement made by Chattisgarh congress legislator Anita Sharma.
While addressing a gathering held in Raipur to mark the birth anniversary of Puri Shankaracharya Swami Nischalananda Saraswati on Friday, Sharma, an MLA from the Dharsiwa constituency, called for unity to build a Hindu Rashtra and appealed that all Hindus should come together for the cause.
Meanwhile, congress distanced itself from taking the onus of Anita’s speech and moreover termed it personal. Chattisgarh Congress state president Sushil Anand Shukla apprehended the talks and said the congress favors the constitution more than anything. He said it is the works of Ambedkar, Nehru, and Rajendra Prasad that Congress emulates but not any other theocratic notions.
He also said Congress is open to accepting different views from party members and is inclusive to all.
