THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: CPM is targeting the KPCC president himself to undermine the Congress, who are constantly opposing the Chief Minister, the government, and the Left Front by constantly accusing them of corruption and nepotism. Just like Oommen Chandy was targeted in the solar case to frame Congress, the aim is to frame Congress by making K Sudhakaran a suspect in Monson's POCSO case.
Yesterday, CPM State Secretary MV Govindan alleged that in the confidential statement given to the court by the victim girl, Sudhakaran was present at Monson's house when the molestation took place. The allegation was made public by the party's state secretary after the CPM mouthpiece made the allegation a piece of news.
As the Lok Sabha elections are around the corner, CPM feels that the allegation against K Sudhakaran will help to divert the political discussions and overcome the controversies against the party and the Chief Minister. It is in this context that the CPM State Secretary MV Govindan has come forward indicating that Sudhakaran will be interrogated by the Crime Branch in the POCSO case in which Monson Mavunkal, the accused in the antiquities fraud case, was convicted the other day.
This has become an active topic of discussion as the state secretary of the main party leading the administration has made the allegation. Congress leadership believes that the allegations against the KPCC President were made without any evidence. Congress came forward with the argument that Sudhakaran is a victim of political vendetta. Congress hopes that by highlighting this as evidence of a political conspiracy, they will be able to create anti-CPM sentiment in the general public.
K Sudhakaran hit back by asking how Govindan got the confidential statement given by the victim in the POCSO case and clarified that he will take legal action against it. Although the CPM mouthpiece and state secretary leveled the allegations as a confidential statement given to the crime branch, the crime branch denied it. Sudhakaran also pointed out that the lawyer in the POCSO case said that the girl had not given such a statement. If Congress moves legally, it may pose a challenge to the CPM.
Meanwhile, in the fraud case in which Monson is accused, Sudhakaran has been summoned by the crime branch for questioning on the 23rd of this month. The stand of the Crime Branch is that there is strong evidence against the second accused, Sudhakaran. CPM is weaponizing this. In the context of new political developments, the next steps of the crime branch are crucial.
KPCC President K Sudhakaran was present there when Monson Mavunkal molested the girl. The crime branch will have to interrogate him. This is based on the news in the party mouthpiece and according to the crime branch.
