ALLEPPEY: It is indicated that there will be action including demotion against thirty people including two district secretariat members due to severe sectarianism in the CPM in the district. Crucial CPM district leadership meetings to discuss these matters will be held today and tomorrow. State Secretary MV Govindan will attend.
The TP Ramakrishnan Commission, which inquired into sectarianism in Alappuzha South, North, Thakazhi and Haripad area assemblies, had recommended strong action. The commission found thirty people guilty, including PP Chittaranjan MLA, former MLAs CK Sadashivan and TK Devakumar. There are indications that the Alappuzha South and North Area Committees may be dissolved.
In the Thakazhi and Haripad area meetings, there will be a decision to include those who were defeated by a conspiracy in the committee. The report against Alappuzha Municipal Councilor A Shanawas, who was involved in the incident of drug smuggling, will also be considered.
In Alappuzha South, North, Thakazhi and Haripad area meetings, there was a situation where the representatives clashed. Considering situations ranging from preparing the list of those to be defeated and distributing it to promises being made for votes, the leadership has prepared for uncompromising action. This is part of the process to clean up the party by ending undesirable tendencies including sectarianism. The aim is to make the party stronger ahead of the Lok Sabha elections.
