THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The central meteorological department informed that there is a possibility of light rain at isolated places in Pathanamthitta, Alappuzha, Kottayam, Idukki and Ernakulam in the coming hours.

They warned that there is a possibility of heavy rain in Kerala for the next five days. Thunderstorms and strong winds with a speed of 30 to 40 km per hour are likely to lash Kerala till Thursday. The meteorological department has sounded yellow alert in various districts. Yellow alert has been issued in Pathanamthitta, Alappuzha, Ernakulam, Idukki, Thrissur and Malappuram today.

The central meteorological department has advised not to go fishing in Kerala, Karnataka and Lakshadweep coasts. Strong winds and bad weather conditions are likely over Kerala and Karnataka coasts and Lakshadweep region till Thursday with a speed of 40 to 45 kmph and at some occasions up to 55 kmph.
