SFI shenanigans of forging certificates to topple reservation seats were brought into the open through a scoop by one popular media house.LDF rather than condemning the practice rallied an attack against the media house. In a stooping low, a case was also registered against the journalist on charges of conspiracy; CPM, the usual torchbearers of press freedom lost all their magnanimity appallingly. Irony though!
The CPM state secretary never backed any punches but remained adamant in the case against Journalist, reasoning with his mundane sermons that often ended in a tangled mess. However, the same CPM state secretary, in a press meeting yesterday, made accusations in an amplified tone against KPCC president K Sudhakaran. He said K Sudhakaran was present with conman Monson Mavunkal when the latter was sexually abusing a minor girl. The below-the-belt rancor from a man who wields such power in government is unprecedented.
Immediately after the press meet, the crime branch refuted CPM's accusations leaving M V Govindan in a fix. When countered by the press about the origin of the accusation, M V Govindan in an assured tone said “ There are also media houses that work neutral. I got the news from them. The crime branch officials also helped me get this statement”
Govindan earlier said the victim's statements included K Sudhakaran's name; as the KPCC president was present at the time of the abuse. These are highly confidential statements shrouded in secrecy by crime branch officers. The testimony from victims is not material to be publicized. However, it seems like the conditions can be altered for the rich in business, and it is confounding how Govindan acquired the purported report from the crime branch. The opposition is clamoring for the truth.
Pinarayi Vijayan and V S Achuthanandan also helmed the role of party secretary once. They also engaged in many such rabble-rousing but the central committee often jumped to put brakes on them. However, Govindan is having a dream run with impunity. His theatrics are now meme materials in Kerala. The state or central leadership should make a course correction or else the forward trudge for the party may turn disastrous with Govindan at the helm. Accusing a POCSO case on the biggest congress leader in Kerala is not that suave like teaching intricacies of a microphone; comrade should alter course.
