KOCHI: The Enforcement Directorate (ED) on Monday carried out surprise inspections at various places in the state. The ED officials carried out inspections in Ernakulam and Kottayam districts. According to reports, the inspections are related to the Hawala transaction. According to sources, the ED discovered a Rs 10,000 crore Hawala transaction during the inspection.
The raids mainly targeted dealers who exchange foreign currency. The ED officials conducted inspections at foreign exchange institutions as well. The raid, which started at 5 pm, continued late into the night. The officials reached all the places at the same time for inspection.
The ED had conducted inspections at various places in Kerala on June 10. The ED raided the homes of Congress leaders and former employees related to the Pulpally Cooperative Bank scam.
