NEW DELHI: Prime Minister Narendra Modi shared the details of his US visit. He said that he is travelling to the US at the special invitation of President Joseph Biden and First Lady Dr Jill Biden. Modi noted that this special invitation is a reflection of the vigour and vitality of the partnership between our democracies. After the US tour, the Prime Minister will visit Egypt.


The purpose of the visit is to expand bilateral relations between the two countries. The US is interested in making India a partner in NASA's 2025 Artemis mission to the moon. 25 countries are already participating in the project.


India is interested in technology transfer in defense sector. America is showing interest in arms sales. Modi's bilateral discussion with President Joe Biden will be crucial on these issues.


Transactions such as the sharing of advanced defense technology, the transfer of GE414 turbofan jet engine technology and the purchase of MQ9B armed drones are likely to be announced.

Agreements will also be signed in the areas of trade and industrial cooperation, investment and telecom.


On International Day of Yoga tomorrow, Modi will lead a yoga session attended by dignitaries after paying respects at the statue of Mahatma Gandhi on the north lawn of the UN headquarters. After June 21 was recognized as Yoga Day by the UN, Modi is participating in person.
