THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Governor Arif Mohammed Khan said the quality of higher education sector in Kerala is declining. The Governor's response is in the context of the fake certificate controversies involving SFI leaders. There is a belief that membership in any student organization is a license for everything, and this causes major setbacks, he said. The Governor told the media that if the matter comes before him, he will take the necessary steps.

The Governor had the other day said that he could only watch and regret the events unfolding in relation to higher education in Kerala. The governor had said that playing with the future of the young generation and that he has no authority to interfere in the matters happening now. Many working in universities is unqualified. Here is a situation where a person is appointed only because he is the private secretary of the chief minister and he himself justifies it. If all this happens, then the present incidents are minor ones.

The media is not ready to take up serious issues. He asked the media to show some guts. Only in Kerala we see the media being threatened. The governor had also said that there is no other solution to the problem here apart from raising your voice and having a backbone.
