BEIJING: In a bizarre incident, a woman and her friends were slapped with a fine of 300 yuan (Rs 3431) by a pub for "not creating a vibrant enough vibe" in the pub. The incident took place in Zhejiang province in China.

The woman had booked a VIP booth at the pub in Hangzhou, Zhejiang province, to spend time with her friends. The bill was 4988 yuan (Rs 57,053). However, she was astonished to see that the bill had been increased by 300 yuan plus the price of an extra bottle of wine. When she enquired about this, the staff of the pub told her that the additional charge was a punishment as she and her friends did not create a vibrant enough vibe. Following this, a dispute broke out between the woman and the staff.

"We went to the pub as customers and not as people to create a vibe. Why should we get punished? We were also charged 1000 yuan for wine that we did not have," the woman said.

Eventually, the management tried to compromise and repaid 1480 yuan to the woman.
