THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Transport Minister Antony Raju on Tuesday said that the state government has not received any setback in the AI camera case. Speaking to the media, Antony Raju said that the High Court rejected the demands put forward by the petitioners and that it did not issue an order praising the opposition.

"The court is convinced that there is no substance in the allegations raised by the opposition. Petitioners had demanded that the AI project should be shelved. However, the High Court rejected this demand. The court did not issue an order praising the petitioners," the minister told the media.

"The cabinet has decided that the Motor Vehicle Department will give money to Keltron only after making a contract between Keltron and the Motor Vehicle Department after conducting thorough inspections. No contract is required to operate the camera. The contract is required to make payment," he added.

Earlier on Tuesday, the Kerala High Court said that all the deals in the road camera project should be examined. The court ruled that it must be determined whether the project has resulted in any losses or additional costs to the exchequer. The High Court also barred the government from transferring funds for the camera project until the court issues an order or prior permission. The High Court gave the direction on the PIL filed by Opposition Leader VD Satheesan and Ramesh Chennithala seeking a probe into the AI camera deal under the supervision of the High Court.
