NEDUMBASSERY: Customs seized 60-gram gold from Nebumbassery airport in Kochi. Behind the veneer of importing soap sets, toys, milk powder, and cosmetics, Salahuddin from Dubai passed 16 kg of cargo to Kochi through an agency. The cargo was headed to the address of Kunnamangalam native Muhhamaed Sayed. Moving away from the usual tactics of gold trafficking through posteriors, the culprits tried a method hitherto unaware of. The gold was made into the shape of dates seeds and mixed along with the milk powder, eateries to avoid customs eyes.
Two people came in to collect the cargo from the airport. The customs monitoring the package turned dubious, forcing them to check the insides of the milk powder. Small seeds similar to that of dates were found inside the milk powder. However, it took some time for the officers to discern that it was not seeds but gold. An investigation has been initiated.
