THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: One can indulge in all sorts of fraudulence if part of a particular student organization, said Kerala Governor Arif Mohammad Khan. He also showed apprehension about the downfall in Kerala’s higher education sector.
“ The higher education sector is in tatters. You need to be a member of the party to get admission into university. The same applies to Ph.D. seats too. If part of a particular student organization, you can reap inexplicable benefits. It is a shame that this is happening in Kerala. If the fake certificate scam reaches my table, strict action is a guarantee” the governor said.
Governor then remarked saying the state ranks bottom in such crime indexes but said there is a wide urge for people to commit such malpractice knowing well that their saviors will emerge as party members and politicians.
“ The scam tampers the education prospects of future students. 28 people won IAS from Kerala this year. Among these numbers, more than half are graduates from universities outside the state. The issue is concerning as education and business is no more a fortress of Kerala. The state is losing its grip” Governor commented.
