NEW DELHI: Prime Minister Narendra Modi today said that India is an influential power that the world is looking up to. The Prime Minister was speaking in an interview given to the US publication Wall Street Journal before leaving for America.
"India has become the voice of the Global South. All religions of the world live in harmony in India.", he said.
"The trust between the leaders has strengthened the India-US relationship. Cooperation in the defense sector has become crucial to the relationship. It also spans trade, technology and energy sectors. America wants to warn China by keeping India on its side. A closer relationship with Russia will not affect cooperation with the US."
"I am the first Prime Minister born in independent India. My thoughts, actions and words are influenced by Indian culture and tradition. That is why I can objectively tell the world what the country's strength is and who I am."
"Cooperation with China depends on peace on the border. We want to resolve differences and disputes through negotiation and not through war. At the same time, there is no compromise in safeguarding sovereignty."
"India is on the side of peace on the Russia-Ukraine issue. Disputes should be settled through diplomacy and negotiation, not through war. We will do everything possible to restore peace.", PM Modi said
"India, being the leader in population and global economy, is eligible for permanent membership in the United Nations Security Council. Let the countries of the world clarify that India does not deserve that position.", he added.
