THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The police has entrusted a special team to trace former SFI leader Nikhil Thomas, who is on the run in the fake certificate case. An investigation team led by Kayamkulam circle inspector is in search of Nikhil. Nikhil's mobile phone is switched off. His last location showed that he was in Thiruvananthapuram on Monday.
The Kayamkulam police have registered a case against Nikhil on charges of forgery and fraud. The authorities of Kalinga University in Raipur told Kayamkulam police that Nikhil's degree certificate was fake. The Kayamkulam police were there as part of the investigation. The police had showed Nikhil’s certificates to the university. The university had clarified that the certificates are fake and such a student had not studied in Kalinga.
Meantime, Kalinga University said they will not file a complaint with the Raipur Police after Nikhil Thomas's certificate was found to be fake. The decision of the university is that the investigation by the Kerala Police is enough. The decision was taken in the discussion with the lawyers.
