NEW DELHI: The Supreme Court termed as unfortunate the incident of stray dogs mauling to death a differently abled boy in Kannur. The court was considering the plea seeking permission to euthanize rabid dogs and aggressive stray dogs. Kannur district panchayat president P P Divya approached the Supreme Court.
The lawyer appearing on behalf of the district panchayat requested the case be considered urgently, but the court said that it would be heard on July 12. A notice will be sent to the opposite parties in this regard. They should reply by July 7. The court then informed to consider the case in detail.
Meantime, animal protection organizations had come forward demanding that no permission be given to kill stray dogs.
