NEW YORK: Prime Minister Narendra Modi presided over the Yoga Day ceremony held in the United States in connection with International Yoga Day. People from 180 countries participated in the event.
"Yoga comes from India, it is a very old tradition. Yoga is free of copyrights, patents and royalty payments. Yoga is adaptable to your age, gender and fitness level. Yoga is portable and is truly universal," PM Modi said. The Prime Minister participated in the function after offering flowers at the statue of Mahatma Gandhi in front of the UN Headquarters. Modi congratulated everyone who came to the United Nations headquarters for the Yoga Day celebrations.
The Prime Minister arrived in the United States yesterday for a three-day visit. The Prime Minister will visit Washington after the Yoga Day program at the UN headquarters. A formal reception will be held at the White House on June 22. He will also meet with President Biden.
