NEDUMBASSERY: The Customs on Wednesday seized 206 grams of gold that were being smuggled through the cargo section of the Kochi International Airport. The cargo was sent by a person named Abu Bakar from UAE through DRC Express Courier in the name of Malappuram natives Sajna and Saina. The Customs had seized 60 grams of gold on Tuesday.

It was certified that the cargo contained goods such as biscuits and almonds. However, gold was hidden in aluminium foil rolls in powder form in such a way that it could not be detected immediately. The gold was found when Customs officials unrolled the foil roll becoming suspicious following the x-ray examination. The Customs has initiated a detailed investigation.
