KANNUR: Kannur District Panchayat President PP Divya receives death threat. The threatening message appeared in a WhatsApp group where animal lovers are members. Panchayat Chairperson received death threats after the Kannur District Panchayat approached the Supreme Court seeking permission to kill the violent stray dogs and rabid dogs.

The district panchayat had informed the court in writing that the attacks of stray dogs are increasing in the district, threatening the lives of the people. Advocate KR Subhash Chandran filed the petition in the Supreme Court for the Jilla Panchayat.

Hearing the case today, the court observed that it is unfortunate that there was a loss of life in stray dog attacks. The court will consider the case again on July 12 after examining the reply of the opposite parties including the central government.

Nihal Naushad, the son of Naushad and Nuseefa of Muzhappilangad was brutally bitten to death by stray dogs. He could not even cry loudly to call for help because he was mute. Before the shock of his death passed, another child was attacked by stray dogs in Muzhappilangad the other day. Jhanvi (9), a third-class student of Pachakara, was attacked when she was playing in the yard of her house. The child's thigh and arm were deeply injured. Three dogs cornered the girl and attacked her. Eyewitnesses say that the child was bitten and pulled away.
