ALAPPUZHA: K H Babujan, Kerala University syndicate member said the act of former SFI leader Nikhil Thomas is a serious criminal offense and that he had cheated the college and the university. He was responding to the media on the fake degree controversy. Babujan clarified that it is not right to link his name with the illegal activities that happened behind the admission.

‘As a public servant, many approach me for many things. They come to me for admission of their children. They come with recommendations for admission in management quota. However, all that cannot be remembered. Apart from university norms, college managements have their own norms. The allegations against me are against truth,’ clarified Babujan.

Hilal Babu, college manager had revealed that it was the party leader who recommended Nikhil Thomas, who failed in BCom for M.Com admission in the same college under the management quota. There were allegations that it was Babujan who recommended the name of Nikhil Thomas for M.Com admission in Kayamkulam MSM College.

Nikhil Thomas reached MSM College after the admissions ended. Nikhil Thomas got admission on the basis of extension of admission date by the university after being sent back saying that the time for admission has ended. It is alleged that Babujan's involvement was also behind getting eligibility from Kerala University for the certificate of Kalinga University submitted by Nikhil.
