THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Kerala University Vice Chancellor Dr Mohan Kunnummal said that the Digilocker system will be used to prevent the use of fake certificates. The VC told the media that once the certificates are added to the central government's Digilocker wallet, the university will be able to check them and find out the truth.

"It is the responsibility of the respective colleges to check the certificates of other universities. That is what the university rules also say. For so long there has been no strict verification of the certificates. The rule that the principals should verify the certificates will be made stricter", he said.

"Colleges and universities have limitations in verifying certificates. If there is any doubt about a certificate submitted by any student, they should inform the university about it. Forged documents are created by individuals. Not political organizations. It is not because there is an overabundance of politics in the campuses that the fake documents are made. There is no evidence that any of the syndicate members were involved in Nikhil's PG admission. The chancellor has sought a report on Nikhil's issue", Mohan Kunnummal said.

"Today's kids are more interested in taking the easy way out than learning and winning. This is how they try to win by cheating and making fake certificates. I am not satisfied with the response from the college on Nikhil's issue. The Syndicate will meet and take appropriate action. There is no evidence that any syndicate member worked to help Nikhil in the incident.", Vice Chancellor said.
