THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: H1N1 has reached Malappuram. A 14 year old boy died of H1N1 in Kuttippuram taluk hospital in Malappuram. Kuttippuram native Gokul died after being in treatment for a few days. Earlier, dengue and Leptospirosis were confirmed in Malappuram but not H1N1. The district and the state by large are seeing big implications of fever with more than 13,000 currently under treatment.

Monsoon is still in its nascent stage but the government hospitals in the district are crammed with more than 2000 people reaching for treatments. Such rush for treatment was last seen during covid times. 2127 people were confirmed to have viral fever while more than 13,00 are currently under treatment across Kerala. If considering the number of people admitted to private hospitals for fever, the numbers can double adding more worries.

In just one week, more than 25 people in Malappuram have caught dengue forcing the health minister and authorities to warn people to adopt caution.
