titan

TORONTO: The missing Titanic-bound submersible 'Titan' imploded in the Atlantic Ocean, the U.S. Coast Guard said in a press conference confirming the death of all five billionaire passengers. Five major parts of the Titan, including the rear armor and the landing frame, were discovered two miles under the sea yesterday. They were discovered by an unmanned underwater vehicle (ROV) aboard the Horizon Arctic. It is thought that Titan may have imploded due to strong pressure under the sea. It is unclear when the submersible collapsed. The bodies of the passengers have not been found.

Parts of the Titan were found near the wreckage of the Titanic. The U.S. and Canada will continue to search for the bodies of the passengers with the help of planes, ships and various equipment. The five-person crew consisted of British businessman Hamish Harding, Pakistani billionaire Shahzada Dawood and his son, Sulaiman Dawood, French diver Paul-Henri Nargeolet and OceanGate CEO Stockton Rush. The company also issued a statement yesterday that they are believed to be dead.

The Titan went missing on Sunday afternoon IST. Communication with the parent ship Polar Prince was lost within one to three quarter hours after being put into the sea. Earlier, following the sound from deep under the ocean, a row of wreckage was found near the Titanic. But it was not confirmed whether it belonged to Titan.
