KOCHI: The Valanchery police have taken YouTuber Muhammed Nihad (26) popularly known as Thoppi into custody. The police had yesterday registered a case against him for disrupting traffic and for singing an obscene song during the inaugural function of a shop at Valanchery in Malappuram. Nihad was taken into custody after breaking the door of his friend’s house in Ernakulam. He had posted the live video of it in his YouTube channel ‘mrz thoppi’.
The policemen tried to open the room but the door was locked from inside. As he could not open the door, Nihad gave the key to the police through the lower part of the door. As they were unable to open the door with the key, broke opened the door. Nihad is seen coming out of the room in the visuals. Nihad alleged in the video that this is done to hide the political cases and to create news. He said that he had informed to appear at the police station tomorrow. Nihad will be produced in the Valanchery court after registering his arrest. The police have seized a hard disc, laptop and two mobile phones.
The police action was on the complaint of Saifuddin Padam, a resident of Valanchery Painkannur Pandikasala and a volunteer. His complaint said that Thoppi disrupted traffic for hours on the national highway and sang obscene song loudly.
