THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: KPCC president K Sudhakaran arrested in the antiquities fraud case against Monson Mavunkal. Sudhakaran, the second accused in the case, was being interrogated by the crime branch at the office in Kalamassery since 11 am. The Congress MP's arrest was recorded after hours of interrogation. However, since he obtained anticipatory bail from the High Court, bail will be granted on a bond of Rs.50,000.
K Sudhakaran is the second accused in the fraud case in which Monson is the main accused. The key witness is a person who has given a confidential statement in the case. The statement is that on the day of the incident, Sudhakaran was seen accepting money at Monson's house. The crime branch has also received evidence that Monson went to Delhi with this witness.
Anoop, one of the complainants, has stated that he paid Rs 25 lakh to Monson through Sudhakaran's mediation. Monson's former driver Ajith and his employees Jason and Joshi said that they saw Rs 10 lakh being handed over to Sudhakaran as soon as Anoop left.
On the other hand, K Sudhakaran, who responded to the questions of the media persons before being produced before the Crime Branch in the antiquities fraud case, said that he is a politician who does not take bribes and therefore is not afraid of anyone. "I am aware of what all I have done. I am not worried about any arrest. I have anticipatory bail' he said.
