BHUBANESWAR: To evade vigilance raid, a sub-collector threw away cash worth two crores to the neighbour's terrace. The incident happened in Nabarangpur, Odisha. The culprit is not any white-collar government employee but the additional sub-collector of Nabrangpur, Prashanth Kumar Rout.

The vigilance was monitoring Prasanth for a long after news travelled about the civil service man creating a fortune from his job. The officials reached Prasanth’s home in Kanan Vihar but the sub-collector bested them with a move, which got foiled after some time. Officers recovered RS 2 crore worth of money from the neighbouring terrace, and it was confirmed that Rout threw away all the money in haste.

The locals erupted in celebration as Rout was such a villainous figure for them and often had a tainted image in public. Cash worth Rs 3,02,30,800 was recovered from the residence of Rout at Bhubaneswar and Nabarangpur. Further, Rout seems to have made regular cash deposits in a number of ‘benami bank accounts’.
