KANNUR: A house intruder assaulted a woman before running away. Shimi, a native of Thrikkannapuram in Thalassery's Pookode, was attacked.

According to the police, the attack was carried out by an auto driver, a native of Thrikadaripoiyil in Maloor. He arrived in an autorickshaw and suddenly entered the house and attacked. He injured both hands of the woman with a blade. No one else other than Shimi was in the house at this time. His father came running after hearing Shimi's screams. She was then admitted to Thalassery Cooperative Hospital.

The police believe that a financial transaction is the reason for the attack. The police have started an investigation into the incident.
