THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: KGMOA has requested the government to appoint more doctors and staff in paramedical departments on a temporary basis as the number of fever patients reaching the government hospitals has increased by five times compared to the previous year. Kerala Kaumudi had reported the other day that the government has not made adequate preparations in the state where the number of flu patients is increasing and the shortage of doctors and other staff is affecting patient care.
Subsequently, the government doctors' association has also come forward on the issue. Unmanageable patient population and parched human resources significantly affect health sector operations. In previous years, additional doctors and paramedical staff were temporarily recruited through local bodies during monsoons to overcome the crisis. KGMOA has demanded that employees should be appointed in government hospitals through a similar method. The organization has given a letter to the Chief Minister and Ministers of Health and Home Affairs.
Health workers are busy with various activities such as diagnosis, patient care, prevention of various diseases, prevention of outbreaks of infectious diseases. But with deaths due to infectious diseases also being reported, the KGMOA warned people to be vigilant and seek medical attention for all severe and prolonged fevers.
