NAGERCOIL: There is a concerning report about the health condition of Arikomban. The Tamil Nadu Forest Department has informed that he will be treated as he is in poor health due to scarcity in food. The tusker used to travel more than 25 km daily when he was in Kerala and now he does not travel much and has becomer thiner. The suggestion of experts is that he might even lose his life if administered with tranquiilizer. Presently, Arikomban is found in the Kanyakumari forest area near the Kothayar Dam. Intermittent radio caller signal is received in Periyar Wildlife Sanctuary.

A few days ago, the forest department had released the footage of Arikomban eating with one leg raised. It is concluded that the reason for this is the injury sustained while loading the lorry. Until last day, the forest department informed that the tusker is eating and is healthy. Meanwhile, the locals demanded that the Kerala government should accept the elephant immediately.
