KOCHI: The teacher had doubts on former SFI leader Nikhil Thomas, an accused in fake degree certificate case, securing admission for M.Com, in the first class itself. The commerce teacher asked him about it in the first class of M.Com at Kayamkulam MSM College.

When the teacher asked him how he got admission for M.Com despite failing, he said that he wrote the supplementary exams on the failed papers and passed. Nikhil, who is in police custody, is being interrogated in the case. The police suspect that Nikhil is hiding many things. The police said the statement of Nikhil that he threw the phone in the creek before going into hiding, is not reliable.

The remand report said that he abandoned the phone in the Karipuzha creek near Kayamkulam Park Junction. The certificate was prepared through Orion, an organization in Ernakulam run by Abin C Raj, former area president of SFI Kayamkulam. The report also said the money was transferred to Abin’s mother’s account, for the certificate.

Nikhil was nabbed from a KSRTC bus in Kottayam early Saturday morning. The accused produced in the Kayamkulam Judicial First Class Magistrate Court has been remanded in police custody till June 30.
