KOTTAYAM: The police have taken a CITU leader and CPM district committee member Ajay into custody in the incident of manhandling a bus owner. An argument broke out after a CITU flag was tied in front of the private bus at Thiruvarppu in Kottayam. This led to the attack. Bus owner Rajmohan was manhandled. The incident happened Sunday morning when the CITU festoons were being removed from the bus.
Ajay thrashed Rajmohan while removing the festoons. When the police who were there tried to disperse Ajay, he threatened to barge into the house and attack him. The police took Ajay into custody when Rajmohan staged protests in front of the Kumarakom police station.
Rajmohan while addressing the media said the reason for CPM's anger towards him was his fight for the farmers. No employees came to operate the bus service. Those who tried to manhandle him will attack his employees. Police protection should be provided to the employees. Rajmohan said that he removed the festoons after asking the police. Ajay attacked him when the police were standing there.
This is contempt of court and so will move legally. The contempt plea will be filed tomorrow. Rajmohan alleged that goons are behind the attack.
Meantime, Thiruvanchoor Radhakrishnan MLA responded that the incident of attacking the bus owner was shocking. The act of the CITU is contempt of court action. This is abuse of power. Thiruvanchoor criticized the CITU leaders for thinking that they can do anything because they have power.
