CAIRO: Prime Minister Narendra Modi was conferred with Egypt's highest honour 'Order of the Nile'. Modi, who is visiting the country, was presented with the honour by Egypt's President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi. An Indian Prime Minister is arriving in Egypt for diplomatic talks after 26 years.

In the meeting between the two, a decision has been taken to increase India-Egypt cooperation. An agreement was also signed for this. After paying his respects at the World War II Memorial in Egypt, Modi also visited the Imam al-Hakim bi Amr Allah Mosque, a 1,000-year-old structure in Cairo. The restoration of the church was completed three months ago.

After a four-day visit to the US, Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived in Egypt's capital Cairo yesterday evening for a two-day official visit. Modi met Egyptian Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly. Modi addressed the Indian community after meeting with dignitaries including Egyptian Grand Mufti Shouki Ibrahim Abdul Karim Allam.

Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, who participated in the Republic Day celebrations in New Delhi in January, had invited Modi to Egypt. Modi will return to India this evening.
