KOTTAYAM: The bus owner who made news for his solitary protest against CITU has called off his protest after a CITU leader's arrest.CITU leaders who were protesting for wage increments have also ended their protest after talks with the police. Both sides will meet Minister V Sivankutty for ameliorating talks. The bus is currently in police custody.
It was last Saturday that CITU decided to place its flag on the bus as part of the protest. The bus used to shuttle service between Thiruvarpu and Kottayam and CITU wanted a wage increase for its workers. However, breaking all odds, the bus owner and ex-army man Rajmohan also started a lone protest beside the CITU people. Rajmohan then approached High Court and succeed in getting a verdict that allowed the bus to service with police protection.
As part of the High Court order, Rajmohan reached in front of his bus today morning and was replacing the CITU flags attached to the bus, when a scuffle happened. The CITU leader irked by Rajmohan’s audacity, slapped on the ex-army man’s face. The police immediately arrested CITU leader and CPM district committee member Ajayan.
Rajmohan has decided to sue CITU for contempt of court. He will file his plea tomorrow.
