MOSCOW: Dmitry Sergeyevich Peskov, the Kremlin spokesperson confirmed the deportation decision of Wagner group head Yevgeny Prigozhin to Belarus. Belarus also agreed on terms to offer asylum to Prigozhin.
The head of Wagner had earlier announced that he would march to Moscow to remove the corrupt and incompetent Russian commanders who sabotaged the war in Ukraine. Prigozhin sounded the war trumpet declaring that they would overcome anything that came their way and had no fear of death. After that, Putin told the people on television that the Wagner group were traitors and that those who had backstabbed him through the coup attempt would be immediately repressed. The consensus comes as Moscow prepares to confront the Wagner group.
It is reported that an agreement was reached to withdraw the coup attempt on the assurance of the lives of the soldiers who carried out the rebel action. It is reported that the head of Wagner was tamed with the mediation of the President of Belarus, Alexander Lukashenko.
As part of the mediation talks, Russia won't bother punitive actions against Prigozhin, however, the leader should leave Russia immediately. The Wagner group soldiers can return to their camp and continue working along with the Russian army.
