THRISSUR: Akash Thillankeri, the accused in the case of killing of Youth Congress activist Shuhaib, has been shifted to a special cell in the high security jail. Akash was shifted from Viyyur Central Jail after he beat the assistant jailer. He beat him following an argument that broke out over the non-functioning of the fan in the cell. Reports said that he beat him when questioned for covering a portion of the cell with a cloth. The Viyyur police have registered a case against Akash after imposing non-bailable offence.

The incident happened in Viyyur Central Jail last afternoon. Assistant Jailer Rahul was attacked. Rahul sought treatment at Thrissur Medical College Hospital after the incident. He then filed a complaint against Akash Thillankeri with Viyyur police. The Viyyur police had informed that a case will be registered after recording the statement. Shuhaib murder case accused Akash Thillankeri is a Kappa prisoner.

Shuhaib was killed on February 12 in 2018. Shuhaib was hacked to death by a group of assailants while he was having food in a shop in Kannur. The attack was after creating a terror atmosphere. The assailants delayed in taking Shuhaib and his companions to the hospital. Shuhaib bled to death before being taken to Kozhikode Medical College. Akash Thillankeri and Deep Chand, accused in the case, were later expelled from the CPM.
