THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) said Kerala will receive heavy rain till June 30. This is in the background of the low pressure formed in the Bay of Bengal and the low-pressure path that exists from the south Gujarat coast to the Kerala coast. According to the IMD, heavy rain is forecast for two days in Central Kerala. Based on this, an orange alert has been issued in Idukki. A yellow alert has been declared in 8 districts today.
It is predicted that Kerala will receive 115.6 mm to 204.4 mm of heavy rain in 24 hours. The low pressure which has formed at present will move in the west-northwest direction and move towards North Madhya Pradesh in the next two days. Heavy thunderstorm is also likely along with rain. People in the hilly areas of central Kerala have been asked to remain cautious in case of heavy rains. The Disaster Management Authority has also issued a special alert due to the possibility of flash floods and landslides.
