KOCHI: Former SFI leader Abin C Raj has been arrested for giving a fake BCom certificate to Nikhil Thomas. Abin is the second accused in the controversial fake graduation certificate case. The accused, who was abroad, was taken into custody soon after he landed at Nedumbassery.
After getting caught, Nikhil had given a statement that it was Abin Raj, the former area secretary of SFI Kayamkulam, who gave him the fake certificate. Following this, the police started trying to bring Abin, who was in the Maldives, to Kerala. After expanding the investigation, the police received information that Abin had forged more fake certificates.
It is hinted that around 10 people got admission to colleges and got jobs using fake certificates given by him in Kayamkulam alone. Many people spent between two to four lakh rupees on fake certificates. Many people got fake certificates from Abin for higher studies, legal studies and jobs. The certificate business was in the name of Kalinga University.
