PALAKKAD: A major fire broke out at the waste treatment plant. The fire broke out on the Palakkad Kootttupatha at around 2 am Tuesday morning. Eight fire engine units arrived and brought the fire under control.

A lot of smoke is emanating due to the burning of plastic waste. Efforts are being made to remove this waste using JCB and quell the smoke. The fire broke out at the rear of the waste treatment plant. The authorities of the Palakkad municipality said that coup is suspected. It is suspected that anti-social elements may have set the fire. The authorities said that they will file a complaint with the police.
