MUMBAI: Thiruvananthapuram Karyavattom Greenfield Stadium will be a venue for the World Cup ODI match to be held in India this year. Match between India and Pakistan will be held in Ahmedabad. A warm-up match will be held in Karyavattom.

Though there were speculations earlier, the official decision in this regard was taken at the ICC meeting held today. The World Cup will be held in 12 matches. BCCI secretary Jay Shah released the list of venues. Former Indian cricketer Virender Sehwag, Sri Lankan legend Muttiah Muralitharan and ICC CEO Geoff Allardice were also present on the occasion.


The India-Pakistan match will be held at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on October 15. The finals will also be held in the same venue. Kolkata's Eden Gardens and Mumbai's Wankhede Stadium will host the semi-final matches.


The race will be from October 5 to November 19. India last hosted the ODI World Cup in 2011. Meantime, the trophy tour of the World Cup has begun. The trophy will return to India on September 4. World Cup 2023 Trophy will travel to 18 different countries including Papua New Guinea, USA, Kuwait, France, Uganda and Nigeria in next 100 days. The aim of the trophy tour is to give global exposure to cricket.
