PALAKKAD: CPM dropped senior leader P K Sasi from the Palakkad district secretariat and demoted him to the district committee. The action against Sasi was following sectarian activities in the district. V K Chandran was also demoted to district committee. District committee member Chamunni was demoted to area committee. The decision was taken in the meeting attended by CPM state secretary M V Govindan. Action will be taken later on the complaint against Sasi for diverting party fund.

The commission of inquiry had found serious irregularities against Sasi. CPM state secretariat member Puthalath Dinesan investigated the complaints against Sasi. Many of the complaints were from Mannarkkad and Cherpulassery area committees. The complaint is that without the party's knowledge, Sasi diverted huge amount of money from the CPM-ruled cooperative banks for various purposes and tampered with the construction funds of the area committee office.

Action was taken on complaints of irregularities amid criticism of sectarianism in relation to leaders P K Sasi, V K Chandran and C K Chamunni. In the CPM district secretariat meeting held to discuss sectarianism, there was severe criticism against Sasi. The criticism raised at that time was that Sasi and V K Chandran were leading the sectarianism.

Four members were also removed from the Kollengode Area Committee. Five including former area secretary U Aziz was reinstated. They lost in the polls despite being on the panel in the last area meet. Pudunanagaram and Kollangode local secretaries will also be among those expelled. The action was taken on the basis of the commission of inquiry report which learnt about sectarianism.
