KOLKATA: West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee was admitted to SSKM Hospital in Kolkata on Tuesday following an emergency landing of her helicopter at Sevoke Airbase.
According to reports, Mamata was admitted to the hospital as she sustained injuries to her knee and hip after the helicopter made the emergency landing. Eyewitnesses stated that Mamata Banerjee was in great pain after the incident.
Earlier today, Mamata Banerjee's helicopter made an emergency landing at Sevoke Airbase due to bad weather and low visibility. She was going to Bagdogra after addressing a public gathering at Krinti, Jalpaiguri.
"CM West Bengal was on board EC-145 helicopter of Heligo Charters pvt ltd from Maal Bazaar to Bagdogra. Diverted to Sevok road (army helicopter base) due to heavy rains and low clouds at Bagdogra. All ok on the ground at sevok road. Helicopter awaiting the weather to clear. It was a precautionary landing," stated the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA).
The Chief Minister of Bengal was returning after participating campaign for local elections. Mamata reached Bagdogra airport by road from Sevoke and later returned by plane. Later she was admitted to the hospital.
