NEW DELHI: Congress leader Rahul Gandhi will visit riot-stricken Manipur on June 29 and 30. Rahul's visit comes as Prime Minister Narendra Modi continues to remain silent on the violence in Manipur.

The opposition had raised criticism that Narendra Modi and the central government had failed in handling the Manipur riots. The news regarding Rahul Gandhi's visit to the riot-affected areas comes after this. During the visit, Rahul Gandhi will meet with people's representatives and other leaders.

It was AICC General Secretary KC Venugopal who informed about Rahul Gandhi's visit to Manipur. "Rahul Gandhi will visit Manipur on June 29-30. He will visit relief camps and interact with civil society representatives in Imphal and Churachandpur during his visit," Venugopal wrote on Twitter.

"Manipur has been burning for nearly two months, and desperately needs a healing touch so that the society can move from conflict to peace. This is a humanitarian tragedy and it is our responsibility to be a force of love, not hate," he added.
