ALAPPUZHA: Don't believe the advertisements on Facebook or mail that you can earn up to Rs 10000 per day from home. Instead, you will be losing your savings. This is just one of many methods of online fraud. Fake advertisements are in the name of big companies.
Even IT professionals fall for the promise of easy money. Last year, 815 cyber complaints of money fraud were registered in the state. As of April this year, complaints have crossed 438. Advertisements on social media and loan apps not approved by the Reserve Bank set these traps.
Another fraud is also prevalent as the deadline for linking Aadhaar number with PAN card is about to expire. If you give Aadhaar number and OTP, your account will be empty in no time.
How you lose the money
1. Advertisement that you can earn so much per day. Clicking on the link will give you a task
2.If you succeed in the task you have to enter the bank account number to deposit the amount
3. Even if you rate an English movie, the task will be rewarded with Rs 50
4. Rating can be given at any time. Money will come accordingly.
5. They will earn trust by depositing money at first. Then they will take away the entire money
6. OLX app is also used for fraud
Loan apps
Another pitfall is loan apps that are not approved by the Reserve Bank. Money will be deposited into the account for extortionate interest. If the repayment is delayed by one day, the method will change. Fraudsters who get the phone contacts and gallery of the person who installed the app will edit the photos and send nudes. If the money demanded is not paid within the specified time, the threat of publishing the photo will follow. Most people will pay out of fear.
