KAYAMKULAM: The second accused and former area secretary of SFI, Abin C Raj, has admitted that he was the one who gave the fake degree certificate to former SFI leader Nikhil Thomas. Abin also told the police that he took money in order to give certificates to many others.
Police took Abin into custody after he landed at Nedumbassery airport from Male at 11 pm on Monday. He was taken to Kayamkulam station at 2 am yesterday and arrested. Abin and the first accused, Nikhil Thomas, were taken to Orion, Ernakulam, which prepared the certificate, for evidence. Abin will be produced in Kayamkulam First Class Magistrate Court today.
Nikhil had told the police that Abin had paid Rs 2 lakh and gave a fake certificate. The document showing transfer of Rs 2 lakh rupees from Nikhil to Abin's mother's account was also found.
Abin loses job in Male
Abin was brought home under pressure from his family. His father talked to Abin and forced him to come home. After being accused in the case, the government dismissed Abin from his job as a teacher in a government school in Male. His work permit and SIM was canceled. He was forced to come home when the police warned him that his passport would be cancelled. His mother Leena, who is a teacher in Male, also came home on Sunday.
