CHERPU: A 23-year-old woman with serious labour pain gave birth inside an emergency ambulance. Aliya reached Cherpu government health centre in terrible pain. The doctors asked her to be taken to Thrissur Medical College. Midway through the journey, Aliya gave birth to a boy child.
During her earlier pregnancy days, it was at Thrissur Medical College that Aliya usually reached for treatment. However, all of a sudden, Aliya felt serious pain yesterday and there was nobody to help her reach the hospital. With a protruding belly, barely able to walk, Aliya somehow grabbed the power to call an auto and reach Cherpu health centre. The doctors considering the situation asked her to be transferred to Thrissur medical college. An ambulance was ready at the entrance. However, nurse Krupa from Cherpu health centre presaged worse if the pregnant lady is not given company. She accompanied Aliya inside the ambulance. It was Krupa who directed the ambulance to go to Thrissur corporation general hospital rather than taking the long route to Medical College.
Information was passed to the general hospital where the doctors and nurses were all set with equipments. However, Aliya gave birth to a boy child inside the ambulance just before the vehicle reached the destination. The mother and child are currently doing good in the district hospital.
