THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: There will be continuous heavy rain in the state from Sunday. Yellow alert has been issued in Alappuzha, Ernakulam, Thrissur, Malappuram, Kozhikode, Kannur and Kasaragod. Orange alert has been sounded in Kannur and Kasaragod on Monday. Orange alert has also been announced in Ernakulam, Idukki, Malappuram, Wayanad, Kannur and Kasaragod on Tuesday. There are chances of heavy rain in isolated places.

Yellow alert has been sounded today in Kozhikode, Kannur and Kasargod today. Yellow alert has been issued in Alappuzha, Ernakulam, Thrissur, Malappuram, Kozhikode, Kannur and Kasargod on Sunday. Pathanamthitta, Alappuzha, Kottayam, Idukki, Ernakulam, Thrissur, Palakkad, Malappuram, Kozhikode and Wayanad will be on yellow alert on Monday. Yellow alert has been sounded in Kollam, Pathanamthitta, Alappuzha, Kottayam, Thrissur, Palakkad and Kozhikode on Tuesday. There is a chance of isolated heavy rain. There is a possibility of landslides and mountain floods in case of heavy rainfall. The public has been asked to be on alert.

Special directions to general public
If there is a situation to evacuate according to the instructions of the authorities, you should cooperate with it in the event of heavy rain warning. People living in danger zones should be cautious as there is a possibility of severe storm surge along various coasts.

People living in unsealed houses and those living in houses with weak roofs should be cautious.


Trees/posts/boards etc standing in danger in private and public areas should be secured and trees should be trimmed. Dangerous conditions should be brought to the attention of the authorities.

In case of heavy rains, do not cross rivers for any reason, bathe in rivers or other bodies of water, fish or for other purposes.


Viewing, taking selfies or congregating on the overpasses above the water bodies is not allowed.
