THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The revised speed limit for vehicles in the state will come into effect from tomorrow. The maximum speed of vehicles on city roads is limited to 50 kmph. The speed limit for different categories of vehicles is determined according to the route they travel on. The speed limit in the state is getting revised after nine years.

•50 kmph on city roads
•60 kmph on all other roads
Passenger vehicles with up to nine seats
• 110 kmph on six-lane national highway
• 100 kmph on four-lane national highway
• 90 kmph on Four lane state highway and other national highways
• 80 kmph on other state highways and major district roads
• 70 kmph on other roads
• 50 kmph on City roads
Light Medium Heavy Passenger Vehicles above nine seats
• 95 kmph on six-lane national highway
• 90 kmph on four-lane national highway
• 85 kmph on other national highways
• 80 kmph of four-lane state highway
• 70 kmph on other state highways and major district roads
• 60 kmph on other roads
• 50 kmph on City roads
Speed limit for goods vehicles
• 80 kmph on six-lane and four-lane national highways
• 70 kmph on four lane state highways and other National Highways
• 65 kmph on other state highways and main district roads
• 60 kmph on other roads
• 50 kmph on city roads
The speed limit for three-wheeled vehicles and school buses on all roads is 50 kmph.
