NEW DELHI: Russian President Vladimir Putin made a phone call to New Delhi today evening connecting with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Putin apprised PM Modi of the unsuccessful coup attempt made by the Wagner group in Rostov-on-Don. PM Modi approved Russia's attempt to safely secure its sovereignty. The Ukraine war was also discussed.
According to reports, PM Narendra Modi has given the 'yes nod' to the Russian leadership; to carry out decisive operations to protect law and order. The Russian president also informed PM Modi about Ukraine's refusal to take political and diplomatic steps toward settlement.
Wagner Group leader Yevgeny Prigozhin, who kickstarted the rebellion has sought asylum in neighboring Belarus.
