ALLEPPEY: 49 girl students who had lunch at Dr. Ambedkar Memorial Government Model Residential School in Punnapra were admitted to the hospital due to discomfort. Food poisoning is suspected. 13 people were admitted to Alappuzha General Hospital and 36 people were admitted to Punnapra Cooperative Hospital.

The girl students of Plus Two and Sixth standard were taken to the hospital yesterday evening after experiencing vomiting and abdominal pain. Lunch consisted of rice, sambar and avial. Food samples were collected under the direction of the Punnapra North Gram Panchayat Health Inspector. According to the school authorities, 260 children and teachers, including others, ate the food and only a few people fell ill. District Collector Haritha V Kumar visited the students at the General Hospital.
