KOZHIKODE: Holding the drumstick tightly in his fingerless left hand, Kesu drummed with a lively rhythm, with his prosthetic leg firmly planted on the ground. Adikesh, a 3rd grader, is overcoming his birth defect and excels at the drums. This nine-year-old from Feroke Chungam has no right leg and no fingers on his right hand.

At the age of two, he started drumming on plates with one hand using the sticks he got. Keshu, who broke the utensils and stools in the house by drumming on them, got no idea how many times he got yelled at for the same. Yet he did not stop. He found rhythm in everything in sight. He started drumming with his fingerless right hand as well. He excitedly drummed on the toy drum bought from the festival grounds. When his little hands hurt, Kesu wrapped a cloth around them and gripped the sticks, and did not stop drumming.

Kesu's finger speed and rhythm amazed his parents. Although they realized that he had music in him, they could not afford to buy a drum set for baby Keshu. Unexpectedly, a video of Kesu playing drums with a smiling face went viral on social media through the family group. Noticing this, film star Devarajan bought an expensive drum set for Keshu and gifted it to him through Nirmal Palazhi on the school entrance festival day. Keshu, a student of Feroke Nallur GGUP School, wants to learn scientifically even though he finds rhythm on the drumset.

Keshu has also won prizes in painting. An exhibition of pictures drawn from YouTube was also held. Father Sajith and Mother Premjotsana are always there to give color to Keshu's dreams.
