THRISSUR: Congress workers led by MP Ramya Haridas placed a blockade in front of Panniyankara Toll Plaza in Thrissur. The protest soon transcended to a scuffle between toll plaza employees and congress workers creating traffic in the area.

According to congress workers, the toll plaza workers have been collecting money from local natives for a long. It has turned difficult for locals natives of Panniyankara to commute fearing the loss of money to the toll plaza. The Congress workers staged a protest while some got on top of the building to switch off the scanner. This created a ruckus in the area as national highway workers and congress workers turned up against each other.

“The service roads and drainage system are in shambles. The people can only pass through the toll plaza. The issue has been brought in front of Minister Nitin Gadkari who ordered not to collect any cash from local natives. But the national highway workers are paying no heed to the minister but collecting money from the school bus and locals in the area. By any means, we will stop this from happening” MP Ramya Harisdas said.
